Soldiers of the King's 8th Regiment
1768-1785



The King's 8th was in Michigan and the Great Lakes from 1768 to 1785. The Michigan Garrisons were Michilimackinac and Detroit. Lesser posts in Michigan included Fort Sinclair and Fort St. Joseph.

The King's 8th Colours
The Colours (flag) on the left is the King's Colour with the number of the regiment in the upper left of the flag. The Colours on the right is the Regimental Colours. The colour of the King's Regiment was a dark blue with the royal cypher in the three corners of the blue field and in the center was the King's royal garter and the honors of the white horse of Hanover, a regimental distinction.
